Vita Nova: Where Outstanding Is Just the Beginning
Yes, we're officially rated Outstanding by Ofsted in all areas across all of our homes —but we're not resting there. We’re on the lookout for brilliant new Residential Childcare Officers to join our therapeutic children’s homes throughout County Durham including the beautiful and tranquil areas of Byers Green and Burnhope.
If you’re the kind of person who sees “professional parent” not as a job title but as a calling, we want to hear from you. As part of the Vita Nova team, you'll offer vulnerable young people more than just support—you’ll give them a safe, stable springboard into a brighter future.
What You’ll Do (Besides Make a Difference Daily):
You’ll support our young people emotionally, socially, and practically—from encouraging their passions and school attendance to managing daily routines and sharing the occasional kitchen disco. One minute you're helping with homework, the next you're cheering them on at football. It’s varied, it’s vital, and yes—sometimes it’s messy. But that’s family.
Who You Are:
You’ve got heart, resilience, and the kind of optimism that rubs off on people. You believe in better days and better lives for young people, and you’re ready to do the hard (and deeply rewarding) work to help make that happen.
What You’ll Need:
- Ideally, an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare—or the enthusiasm to earn one with our full support.
- A full UK driving licence (we’re rural, sat navs optional but enthusiasm essential).
- GCSEs (Maths & English, grade 4/C or above preferred but not essential).
- And above all: compassion, commitment, and a sturdy sense of humour.
Why Join Us?
We don’t just say “team”—we mean it. At Vita Nova, you’ll get:
- Real career progression and fully funded training
- Hourly pay, with competitive sleep-in rates
- Flexible hours and a workplace that feels like home
- Proper food on shift (and sometimes cake... lots of cake)
- Award winning staff benefits and pension scheme
