Construction Materials Technician

Amtest UK is looking for a Construction Materials Technician to join our growing team in East London.
You’ll help ensure the materials used to build roads, bridges, buildings and other infrastructure meet the required standards, carrying out testing on concrete, soils, aggregates, asphalt and other construction materials both on-site and in our laboratory.
We're looking for someone with previous experience within construction, materials testing or a similar practical environment, who is reliable, keen to develop their technical skills and interested in building a long-term career within the industry.
Previous construction materials testing experience would be particularly advantageous, although training will be provided to develop your knowledge of our testing methods, procedures and equipment.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out construction materials testing on-site and in our laboratory
- Testing concrete, soils, aggregates, asphalt and other construction materials
- Travelling to construction sites across London and the surrounding areas, with occasional travel further afield
- Recording test results accurately using company systems and documentation
- Carrying out routine equipment checks and ensuring testing equipment is maintained and ready for use
- Building positive working relationships with clients and representing Amtest UK professionally on-site
- Following health & safety procedures and maintaining a clean and organised working environment
- Working closely with colleagues to deliver accurate and reliable testing services
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone with relevant practical experience, ideally within construction or construction materials testing.
Experience in areas such as groundworks, utilities, civil engineering, concrete, soils, highways or site-based construction work would also be beneficial.

- Happy to travel to different construction sites when required
- Professional and confident communicating with clients and colleagues
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence – essential
- Previous experience within construction, materials testing or a similar practical/site-based role
- CSCS card
- Able to reliably commute to our Canning Town laboratory
- Willing to travel to construction sites
- Applicants should currently be residing in the UK and be available to commence employment within our required timeframe

Due to the timeframe for this recruitment, we are currently looking for candidates who are already residing in the UK and have the right to work in the UK at the time of appointment.
Amtest UK is a licensed Skilled Worker sponsor and, where appropriate, we are open to considering Skilled Worker visa sponsorship following the successful completion of the employee's probationary period, subject to the role and individual meeting the relevant UKVI requirements at that time.

About Amtest UK

We support construction projects throughout the construction process, helping to ensure the ground being built on and the materials being used meet the required specifications.
Through a combination of on-site and laboratory testing, we assess concrete, soils, aggregates and other construction materials in accordance with recognised British and European standards. Our work provides engineers, contractors and developers with the information they need to build safely and with confidence.
Pay: £30,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
