SureCare Central London is seeking a caring, dedicated and reliable Support Worker to provide personal care and support to children and young people within a specialist school setting.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs, helping them to access education, develop independence and participate fully in school life. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, healthcare professionals and families to ensure pupils receive the highest standard of support throughout the school day.
Consistency is particularly important within this role, and we are looking for someone who can build positive relationships and provide dependable support to the children they work with.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide personal and intimate care whilst preserving dignity and promoting independence.
- Support pupils with toileting, dressing and personal hygiene.
- Assist pupils during meal and snack times.
- Support children with mobility needs and manual handling requirements.
- Carry out PEG feeding where trained and assessed as competent.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and healthcare plans.
- Support pupils in classroom activities and throughout the school day.
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and nursing staff.
- Observe, monitor and report any concerns regarding a child's wellbeing.
- Promote equality, inclusion and positive outcomes for all pupils.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in care, support work, education or a similar role.
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, learning disabilities or complex care needs.
- Caring, patient and compassionate nature.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience supporting children and young people.
- Moving and Handling Training.
- Personal Care Experience.
- PEG Feeding Experience.
- Epilepsy Awareness Training.
- Medication Administration Training.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care.
- Experience within a school or educational setting.
