Job title: Account Manager
Location: Coventry / Hybrid
Department: Client Services
Reporting to: Directors
Employment type: Full-time
The Herd is looking for an experienced, commercially minded Account Manager to lead client relationships across the agency. You will be the day-to-day strategic partner for a portfolio of clients, ensuring projects run smoothly, communication is exceptional and every client receives the high-quality, proactive service that defines The Herd Experience.
This is a varied role covering the full breadth of The Herd’s offering, including performance marketing, paid media, SEO, social media, creative, branding, websites, software, AI enablement and digital transformation. Previous experience in a marketing, creative or digital agency is strongly preferred.
The role
As an Account Manager, you will own the relationship between The Herd and your clients. You will understand their business, commercial goals, challenges and opportunities, then bring together the right people across the agency to deliver work that creates a genuine impact.
You will manage multiple retained and project-based accounts, keeping delivery organised, clients informed and teams aligned. This is not simply an administrative role. We are looking for someone who can build trust, identify growth opportunities, confidently challenge where needed and make clients feel like a valued part of The Herd.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the main day-to-day contact for a portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.
- Build strong, trusted and long-term relationships with key client stakeholders.
- Develop a detailed understanding of each client’s business, objectives, audiences, competitors and growth priorities.
- Lead regular client meetings, strategy sessions, campaign reviews and performance updates.
- Create clear project briefs and ensure internal teams fully understand the client’s goals, requirements, deadlines and priorities.
- Coordinate work across The Herd’s teams, including Perform, Evolve, Enablement and The Herd Dev & Tech.
- Manage campaign plans, project timelines, actions, deliverables and client approvals.
- Ensure clients receive proactive communication, clear reporting and a consistently excellent experience.
- Work with performance and creative teams to translate results into clear, commercially relevant client updates.
- Identify opportunities for additional support, cross-selling and upselling where it will genuinely benefit the client.
- Support the preparation of proposals, scopes of work, presentations, renewal plans and strategic recommendations.
- Monitor account performance, client satisfaction, budgets and profitability.
- Handle client queries, feedback and challenges professionally, escalating issues appropriately and helping to find practical solutions.
- Support onboarding for new clients and ensure every early interaction reflects The Herd Experience.
- Keep client information, actions, notes and project records accurate and up to date within the agency’s CRM and project-management systems.
- Contribute ideas that improve client service, internal processes, reporting and retention.
Essential skills and experience
- Proven experience as an Account Manager, Senior Account Executive, Client Services Manager or similar client-facing role.
- Previous experience working in a digital marketing, creative, media, web development or full-service agency environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing multiple client accounts, projects and priorities at the same time.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing and the ability to discuss services such as paid media, SEO, social media, branding, content, websites and digital strategy with confidence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and project-management skills, with close attention to detail.
- Ability to lead meetings, present ideas and build confidence with senior stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness, including an understanding of budgets, scopes, retainers, account growth and profitability.
- Ability to translate client objectives into clear, useful briefs for specialist teams.
- A proactive approach to account development, problem-solving and relationship management.
- Confidence using CRM, project-management, presentation and reporting tools.
- A calm, professional and solutions-focused approach when working under pressure.
Desirable skills
- Experience in a fast-growing agency or business with a broad range of digital services.
- Experience using GoHighLevel, HubSpot, Monday.com, Asana, ClickUp, Trello or similar CRM and project-management tools.
- Experience with Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO, Google Analytics, social media management or website projects.
- Experience managing creative, branding, development, digital transformation or software projects.
- Knowledge of AI-enabled marketing, automation and digital adoption.
- Experience preparing proposals, account plans, client reports and pitch presentations.
- A relevant qualification in marketing, business, communications, digital media or a related discipline.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships and helping businesses succeed. You will be organised and commercially aware, but also personable, positive and confident enough to become a trusted extension of a client’s team.
You will be:
- Highly client-focused, with a strong understanding of what great service looks like.
- Comfortable managing a busy and varied workload without losing attention to detail.
- Proactive in spotting opportunities, resolving issues and moving work forward.
- Able to communicate clearly with both clients and internal specialists.
- Commercially minded, with the confidence to identify opportunities to grow accounts responsibly.
- Collaborative, supportive and comfortable working with a close-knit agency team.
- Curious about marketing, technology, AI and the evolving digital landscape.
- Driven to deliver outcomes, not simply complete tasks.
What you’ll get
- A central role in shaping client relationships at a fast-growing Coventry-based agency.
- A varied portfolio spanning performance media, creative, websites, software, AI enablement and digital growth.
- The opportunity to work with ambitious businesses in the UK and internationally.
- A supportive, people-first culture focused on loyalty, transparency, trust, development and recognition.
- Ongoing learning across modern marketing, technology, software and AI-led business solutions.
- A team environment where ideas are welcomed, success is celebrated and people are encouraged to grow.
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
Benefits:

- Company pension
- Free parking
