Chesterfield VW Specialist is a small, family-run independent garage specialising in Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Škoda (VAG) vehicles.
We’re a busy and growing business with a strong local reputation, and we’re looking for an experienced Motor Vehicle Technician to join our team.
We pride ourselves on doing a job properly. We’re looking for someone who shares that approach — a skilled, reliable technician who pays attention to the detail, works efficiently and takes genuine pride in their work.
The Role
This is a hands-on technician role covering a wide range of mechanical work, including:
- Routine servicing and maintenance
- Vehicle diagnostics and fault finding
- Cambelt and timing belt replacement
- Engine repairs and mechanical work
- Brakes, suspension and general repairs
- Identifying faults and recommending appropriate repairs
- Completing work accurately and efficiently
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and care
Our workload is varied, so we're looking for someone who is confident getting stuck into more than straightforward servicing.
What We're Looking For
You'll need to have solid experience working within the motor trade and be confident carrying out mechanical repairs independently.
Ideally, you'll have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Motor Vehicle Technician or in a similar motor trade role
- Strong servicing and general mechanical experience
- Experience with cambelts, engines and more involved mechanical repairs
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- A high level of attention to detail
- The ability to work efficiently without compromising on quality
- A reliable, practical and positive approach
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
Previous VAG experience or Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT or Škoda training would be a real advantage, but it isn't essential. We're much more interested in finding an experienced technician with the right skills, attitude and approach.
Working Hours
We can consider part-time through to full-time permanent contracts for the right person, so we're happy to discuss a working pattern that suits both you and the business.
Our standard workshop hours are:
Monday–Thursday: 8:30am–5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am–3:30pm — but you'll be paid until 5:00pm
Yes, you read that correctly. We like an early Friday finish!
