As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operative / Van Driver to join our team on a permanent basis.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining general warehouse duties with local and occasional national customer deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Duties
- Picking, checking and preparing customer orders accurately.
- Palletising and wrapping goods securely for dispatch.
- Loading and unloading deliveries and company vehicles.
- Checking quantities and products against picking and delivery documentation.
- Organising stock within the warehouse.
- Receiving incoming goods and placing stock in the correct locations.
- Identifying and reporting damaged, defective or incorrect stock.
- Assisting with stock counts and general warehouse organisation.
- Using packaging materials and warehouse equipment safely and correctly.
- Keeping the warehouse, loading areas and working environment clean, tidy and safe.
- Following company Health & Safety procedures at all times.
- Assisting other members of the warehouse and operations team when required.
Van Driving & Deliveries
- Loading the company van safely and securely before leaving the warehouse.
- Carrying out local deliveries across Leicester and surrounding areas.
- Completing occasional longer-distance and national deliveries when required.
- Checking goods and delivery paperwork before leaving the warehouse.
- Ensuring goods are delivered safely, professionally and to the correct customer.
- Obtaining delivery confirmation where required.
- Representing Gafbros professionally when dealing with customers.
- Looking after company vehicles and reporting any faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
- Carrying out basic vehicle checks before journeys.
Essential Skills & Requirements
Applicants must have the following:
- Full UK driving licence and be confident driving a commercial van.
- Good standard of spoken and written English to understand instructions, delivery paperwork and customer requirements.
- Basic Maths skills for checking quantities, counting stock and verifying orders.
- Good attention to detail to ensure the correct products and quantities are picked and delivered.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work methodically.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Good timekeeping and reliability.
- Ability to work independently when carrying out deliveries and completing assigned tasks.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a busy warehouse environment.
- Good communication skills when dealing with colleagues, supervisors and customers.
- Basic customer service skills and a professional manner when representing the company.
- Physical fitness suitable for warehouse work, including regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting and manual handling.
- Ability to safely load, unload and move goods within the warehouse and delivery vehicles.
- Good awareness of Health & Safety and the importance of maintaining a safe working environment.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently during busy periods.
- A responsible and trustworthy attitude, particularly when handling customer orders, stock and company vehicles.
- Willingness to undertake a varied role and assist with other reasonable warehouse or operational duties when required.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Previous warehouse, picking or packing experience.
- Previous van delivery or multi-drop driving experience.
- Experience loading and securing goods for transport.
- Experience using pallet trucks or other warehouse equipment.
- Forklift Truck licence.
- Familiarity with stock control or warehouse management systems.
