We are recruiting for the role of Maneuverer Maintainer at our Reading Train Care Depot.
What is a Maneuverer? This role is similar to a Depot Train Driver, which involves driving various types of trains at Reading Maintenance Depot (maybe required to work at other LTV locations at times) within Railway rules and regulations and the GWR Local Depot Operating Instructions. The role is responsible for moving trains across a maintenance depot, preparing them ready for service, carrying out shunting duties, light maintenance and general train fault finding. These are integral parts of this role.

The Mano 1 position is a supervisory role to the Mano 2 team. The role is pivotal in ensuring that all Mano 2s are competent to drive trains in a safe manner on the Reading Train Care Depot. This is achieved by ongoing training, development, and assessment of the Mano 2 colleagues. The role also includes the competence management of the Maintenance Team Leaders, DP and PIC colleagues who control movement of trains into and out of the maintenance sheds. You'll ideally be computer literate, able to build great relationships with the team, deliver training packages, coaching sessions, briefings, give feedback and challenge people where necessary.
You'll be working closely with the Depot Operations Management team to build new training packages and to oversee the ongoing training nuances of the Reading Train Care Depot whilst adhering to the current standards and engaging with Operational standards team.

Professional communicator with good experience of the phonetic alphabet

As a minimum, you will need to have:
3 years' competence as an experienced Mano, or
3 years' competence as an experienced mainline train driver
A1 assessor competent (or working towards this competence)
A GWR recognised training/delivery competence (or working towards this competence)
