We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Trading Standards Team.
This post is designated as “agile”, allowing for a mix of home working and office-based working.
We are looking for a highly professional Senior Fair Trading Officer with a commitment and passion for Trading Standards work.
The successful candidate will be a flexible, creative and supportive team player with excellent communication skills and a thorough understanding of the Trading Standards landscape and all relevant legislation.
You will be involved in a range of Trading Standards work where you will play a key role in ensuring that our statutory duties and key priorities are met. This will include enforcement of Trading Standards legislation, using civil and criminal sanctions and providing appropriate Trading Standards advice to businesses and consumers, with particular emphasis on Food Standards, Doorstep Crime, Scam Prevention and Intellectual Property disciplines.
You will be required to hold the Diploma In Consumer Affairs (or a recognised equivalent via the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) structured qualification framework) or be able to evidence substantial proven experience in Trading Standards enforcement. You will also be required to hold relevant Food Standards Qualification such as the CTSI Professional Competency in Food Qualification or have a willingness to obtain this within twelve months of appointment.
Access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement of the role.
