As Duty Manager you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of the operation, consistently meeting the standards set out in our contract and the expectations of our customer. You will lead a team of SCSTLs and CSTLs with indirect responsibility for 30-35 staff, and will assume full responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Service Centre Manager.
Compliance and safety

Ensure all working practices comply with gategroup food safety principles

Adhere to and enforce Health & Safety guidelines and company policies and procedures across all areas

Ensure operational processes are followed in line with the contract specification

Conduct, manage and oversee overt and covert compliance audits, identifying and recording potential risks to prevent compliance issues arising
People and performance
-
Lead the operational SCSTLs and CSTLs, creating a team environment that supports strong morale, commitment and pride in the work

Deliver training and development systematically and professionally, supporting individual development plans and ensuring all training is recorded and induction programmes completed

Coach team members and train new staff

Set clear objectives for SCSTLs and review their performance every six months

Address unacceptable conduct or performance in line with company disciplinary procedures, and ensure your own conduct and that of your team meets the needs of the business
Operational delivery

Take responsibility for the movement of all stock in and out of the Service Centre

Assist in controlling costs, overtime and budget requirements, and in eliminating waste and shrinkage

Assist in ensuring maintenance, plant and machinery and housekeeping are kept to schedule

Work with the Service Centre Manager to deliver local projects in priority areas

Liaise confidently with senior representatives of LNER
This position is on a rolling rosta 5 out of 7 days.
Education
-
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, or significant qualification by experience
Experience
-
2-3 years in a managerial or supervisory role requiring a high level of staff or resource management (desirable)

Experience of working within a unionised environment

Competence in handling disciplinary matters and conducting conduct and welfare interviews

Sound understanding of Health & Safety, ideally IOSH certified or equivalent
Technical
-
Competent user of MS Office
