Someone who can stay calm when things become difficult, build trust over time and help a pupil feel that school is somewhere they can succeed.
A specialist education setting in Willesden Junction is looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This is an opportunity to support young people with additional needs while developing valuable experience within a specialist SEND environment.
The setting
The setting supports young people with SEND and additional learning needs within a structured, supportive environment.
The approach is centred around understanding individual pupils, removing barriers to learning and helping young people develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
Staff work closely together to provide consistent support both inside and outside the classroom.
The role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support
- Support pupils with additional learning and SEND needs
- Help pupils engage positively with learning
- Build strong and trusting relationships
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Encourage independence and confidence
- Work closely with teachers and support staff
- Help maintain a calm and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils during wider school activities
Who we are looking for
This role would suit someone who understands that progress can take time and that consistency matters.
You will ideally have experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work or a similar setting.
You will be:

- Committed to supporting young people with SEND
Previous experience within a special school, SEMH setting, alternative provision or with Autism would be beneficial, but transferable experience will also be considered.
