We’re looking for a highly motivated Creative Retail Assistant who thrives both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a background or interest in Art and Design. You’ll receive full training in fused glass to help fulfil our retail and trade orders and create our handmade products.
You’ll also play a key role in delivering our workshops, helping customers bring their ideas to life and creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone who visits Glass Deva. We encourage our team members to share their creative ideas and bring their own personality and creativity to the role.
Fused glass art can be hard to access, but we’re here to change that! With our training and resources, you’ll gain proficiency in this exciting medium. Using microwave and large kilns, located on a high street, we’re breaking down barriers and spreading the word about creating fused glass art at home.
Role Responsibilities
- Make all of our customers feel welcome and assist them in finding products
- Operate the cash register and handle transactions
- Maintain a tidy, clean and well-presented shop floor and workshop
- Answer phone calls and respond to customer enquiries
- Assist with shop replenishment and inventory management
- Assist with fulfilling retail and trade orders
- Create personalised fused glass products (training provided)
- Prepare and organise materials for workshops
- Host fused glass workshops for children and adults (training provided)
- Guide customers through the creative process in a patient and approachable manner
- Ensure workshops are fun, welcoming and run smoothly
- Assist with packaging and preparing customer orders
- Assist with digital content on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
- Contribute ideas to our marketing and social media strategies
- Have a friendly, positive and hardworking approach to work
Skills and Qualifications
- Art qualification or background in Art and Design (desirable)
- A strong portfolio (desirable)
- Creativity and innovative thinking with an eye for detail
- Excellent organisational skills
- Quick learner and willing to learn new skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Excellent communication skills
- Patient and approachable manner when working with children and adults
- Retail or customer service experience (desirable)
- Strong work ethic and reliable approach to work
- Local knowledge of Chester useful
- DBS check will be required
