Job Summary
A Healthcare Assistant provides essential support to residents in a nursing home, helping them maintain their dignity, independence, and overall wellbeing. The role involves assisting with daily personal care, monitoring health conditions, and supporting nursing staff in delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Help residents with mobility, including transferring, walking, and using mobility aids
- Support residents with eating and drinking, including feeding where necessary
- Monitor and record vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, blood pressure) as directed
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental health to nursing staff
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
- Assist with recreational and social activities
- Follow care plans tailored to each resident’s needs
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, infection control, and safeguarding policies
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a care or healthcare setting (preferred but not always required)
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (desirable)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient, and caring nature
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Physical ability to assist with manual handling tasks

Reporting To
- Registered Nurse / Senior Care Assistant / Care Home Manager
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.45 per hour
