Senior Cloud Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join a high-performing technology team responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing secure, scalable cloud infrastructure that supports critical business applications and enterprise services. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex cloud transformation initiatives, modernize existing platforms, and implement best practices across infrastructure, automation, security, and operational excellence.
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will collaborate closely with software engineers, DevOps professionals, architects, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders to deliver resilient cloud solutions aligned with organizational objectives. You will play a key role in cloud architecture decisions, infrastructure automation, performance optimization, disaster recovery planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong analytical and communication skills to solve complex infrastructure challenges while mentoring team members and promoting engineering best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure across enterprise environments.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Bicep.
- Automate cloud provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and operational processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Collaborate with DevOps, software engineering, networking, and security teams to support cloud-native application deployments.
- Optimize cloud environments for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency through continuous monitoring and analysis.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tools and best practices.
- Configure and manage cloud networking, identity management, access controls, and security policies.
- Lead cloud migration initiatives from on-premises infrastructure to public cloud platforms with minimal business disruption.
- Monitor infrastructure health using enterprise monitoring and logging solutions while proactively resolving operational issues.
- Support disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and business continuity initiatives for cloud-hosted services.
- Conduct architecture reviews and recommend improvements that align with security, compliance, and governance standards.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and code reviews to strengthen engineering capabilities.
- Document cloud architecture, operational procedures, technical standards, and deployment processes to support long-term maintainability.
- Stay informed of emerging cloud technologies, platform enhancements, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering within enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated expertise with one or more major cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, ARM Templates, or Bicep.
- Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows Server administration, networking, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, firewalls, and cloud security principles.
- Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar programming languages.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, or Splunk.
- Solid understanding of cloud governance, identity and access management (IAM), Zero Trust security principles, and compliance frameworks.
- Professional cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or Google Professional Cloud Architect are preferred.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead technical discussions across cross-functional teams.
- Proven experience mentoring engineers, leading technical initiatives, and delivering enterprise-scale cloud projects.
- Authorization to work in the United Kingdom is required.
