The newly renovated Carpenters Tavern, Dundry are looking for a reliable and passionate Kitchen Cook to join our friendly team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys preparing honest, high-quality food using fresh ingredients in a welcoming, community-focused environment.
Our menu is carefully curated rather than extensive, with an emphasis on traditional pub favourites, seasonal specials, locally sourced ingredients and consistently well-presented dishes. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and efficiency while working as part of a close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard.
- Ensure all food is presented attractively and served promptly.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen safety standards in line with current regulations.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising food waste.
- Support the development of seasonal specials and menu improvements where appropriate.
- Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, organised, and well maintained at all times.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Follow recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency and profitability.
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to deliver an excellent customer experience.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen or pub environment.
- Ability to prepare traditional British pub food to a high standard.
- A passion for quality ingredients and simple, well-executed dishes.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Understanding of food hygiene and HACCP procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
