Working Denbighshire Placement Officer — Key Information
Position Details:
- Job Title: Working Denbighshire Placement Officer

- Hours: Flexible/agile working, with occasional evenings and weekends
- Pay: £17.85 per hour
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of participants aged 16+ and provide one-to-one support during work placements
- Mentor, coach and support participants facing barriers to training and employment
- Help participants recognise their strengths and workplace skills and progress towards sustainable employment
- Create person-centred goals and action plans, monitor progress and encourage independence
- Provide CV, interview, job-search and career-development support
- Complete risk assessments and risk management plans
- Conduct regular participant reviews and maintain accurate progress records
- Maintain strong relationships with employers, resolving placement issues when necessary
- Work with Employment Coordinators and partner organisations to support progression
- Make referrals to further employability services where appropriate
- Maintain accurate case records, reports, performance information and case studies
- Handle confidential information and maintain a clear audit trail
- Follow policies relating to safeguarding, equality, health & safety, lone working and data protection
- Work collaboratively across the wider Working Denbighshire service
Essential Requirements:
The strongest requirements to focus on are:
- Relevant qualification OR substantial relevant experience in mentoring, coaching, employment support, youth/community work, social work or community development
- Experience supporting people facing poverty, disadvantage or barriers to employment
- Experience working with people with complex or multiple needs
- Experience with strengths-based assessments, action planning and outcome reviews
- Ability to identify risks and complete risk assessments/management plans
- Experience working with statutory, voluntary and private-sector organisations
- Knowledge of employment and benefits, including welfare reform
- Understanding of poverty and social disadvantage
- Good understanding of confidentiality, GDPR/data protection, safeguarding, equality and inclusion
- Strong IT and electronic-record/database skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and time management
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- A positive, empathetic, non-judgemental and person-centred approach
- Ability to motivate and empower participants
- Willingness to travel throughout Denbighshire and work flexibly
Desirable Requirements:
- Fluent Welsh
- Welsh language skills at Level 1+
- Database and regulatory/legislative monitoring experience
- Evidence of CPD/further learning
- Experience supporting people into sustained employment through employability programmes
- Relevant degree, such as Social Work, where applicable
