We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Capital Finance Manager. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes for the University's capital and long-term maintenance programmes. Working closely with Estates, IT Services and Finance colleagues, you will provide insightful financial analysis, support strategic decision-making and help drive continuous improvement across financial reporting and monitoring processes.
You will be responsible for:

To develop and review monthly capital and long term maintenance reporting, including for senior committees, and provide insightful management information and financial analysis and deliver to tight deadlines.

To develop, maintain and monitor a suite of exception reports in relation to capital expenditure and capital grant income as well as longterm maintenance.

To oversee the preparation of the Capital budget and five year plan balance sheet and cash flow for the University.

To support members of both Estates and IT Services, including the Director of Estates and Facilities, the Director of IT Services and members of the Estates and Facilities and IT Leadership teams in all strategic financial planning, budget and forecast processes in relation to capital and long-term maintenance, and consolidate results for the University.

To manage staff involved in the support of capital activity.

Essential Criteria:

A recognised CCAB professional accountancy qualification or equivalent

Educated to degree level

Experience of working within finance in a large, complex organization demonstrating ability to work collaboratively and proactively across organisational boundaries.

Experienced in leading, managing and developing teams with the ability to think in strategic terms and exercise leadership.

Significant experience of working in an accounts preparation role with strong analytical skills to enable production of meaningful financial reporting
Desirable Criteria:
-
Experience of leading on the accounting, budgeting and forecasting of capital projects.

Experience of the implementation of lease accounting under IFRS (IFRS 16)
