Headstart Residential Care is seeking dedicated Waking Night Staff to join our committed team in providing high-quality care and supervision to children and young people in a safe, secure, and supportive residential setting.
About the Role:
As a Waking Night Staff member, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and calming environment overnight. You’ll monitor the wellbeing of young people, handle any incidents or concerns that arise, carry out regular safety checks, and help ensure that the home remains clean and welcoming. This is a key position requiring vigilance, empathy, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety, care, and supervision of young people throughout the night.
- Support and implement bedtime routines to help young people settle peacefully.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the home during night hours.
- Follow individual care plans, including managing specific health needs such as enuresis.
- Complete clear and accurate written and verbal reports.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure a secure and hazard-free environment.
- Communicate effectively with day staff to report any overnight incidents or observations.
- Uphold the values, philosophy, and policies of Headstart Residential Care at all times.
- Handle all matters with confidentiality and sensitivity.
About You:

Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people (preferably in a residential care setting).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Emotional resilience and a high standard of professionalism.
- Flexibility to work shifts including weekends.
- Willingness to work towards NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare.
- Drivers Licence
Desirable:
- GCSE English or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the needs and challenges faced by young people in care.
- Experience with counselling or emotional support for children.
