Job Role:
To become a valuable member of our busy Logistics team. As our UK Transport planner this is a key position to the overall success of our daily operation. Planning a fleet of 15 vehicles maximising revenues on fleet. Liaising efficiently and effectively with our internal operations team and our team of professional drivers, internal and external customers. The role requires a high energy approach and commitment to providing the customer the best possible service. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Have a good knowledge of transport policies, regulations and best practice.
General Duties:
- Demonstrate a methodical and coordinated approach while working under pressure.
- Maintain a comprehensive record of all transport related information (i.e. quotes, bookings and manifests etc.) on the companies TMS.
- Cost-effective and efficient route planning, and backloading of the fleet to maximise revenues.
- To maintain driver and fleet compliance.
- Ensure that drivers are issued with the correct documentation and fully informed on both the customers’ requirements and our expectations.
- Full and thorough driver briefing and de-briefing – Carry out daily welfare checks on all remote drivers, check in/out all company issued devices and equipment; communicate shift start times and manifest details; check documentation accuracy and address any errors; investigate and proactively manage all compliance, accident and incident concerns; challenge timesheet and expense anomalies and assist with organising driver training and development requirements as deemed necessary and appropriate.
- Booking agency driver cover for holidays and sickness, monitoring agency driver performance and agency costings.
- Monitor and manage fuel drawings, toll charges and overnight parking costs and address any concerns.
- Communicate all issues and concerns with both internal and external customers and the Transport Planning teams in a timely manner and maintain an open and transparent dialogue with all parties.
- Monitor driver performance, delays and demurrage and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and increase profitability.
- Maintain all relevant aspects of a safe, legal and compliant transport operation in accordance with the Fleet Compliance team.
- Ensure that all relevant statutory laws, EU Drivers Hours Rules & Regulations, Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations, Operators Licence and OCRS obligations, and all Company policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.
- Maintain an efficient working relationship with all suppliers and staff and liaise effectively with the Fleet Compliance team to ensure that all legal compliance requirements are correctly communicated and organised efficiently.
- Uphold the company Health & Safety system and ensure that all processes are adhered to.
- Involvement in projects as required for continual improvement, leading to improved efficiency and increased profitability.
Experience Skills
.National CPC (preferred, but not essential)
