Due to continued growth within the lead manufacturing sector, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inspector to join our quality team at a our manufacturing plant in Barnsley.
The ideal candidate will support the Quality and Production departments by carrying out chemical analysis tests and reports, dimensional first off, patrol and final inspection of manufactured parts in Lead material. The successful candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, and proficiency completing reports for internal and customer use. Working hours:
- 40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 12:00hrs - 22:30hrs
- Some Friday morning's may be required. Paid as overtime or time in lieu.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Reporting
- Performing internal chemical analysis of melts, check results against specifications and generate 3.1 material certificates
- Performing dimensional inspections on various parts and products using manual measuring tools such as micrometres, digital calipers, protractors, radius gauges, rules etc.
- Recording inspection results, generating reports and maintaining accurate records.
Drawing Interpretation
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to understand the requirements.
Equipment Calibration
- Ensuring measuring equipment is calibrated and in good working condition.
Non Conformances
- Reporting quality issues, identifying and documenting non-conforming parts and potentially participating in root cause analysis.
Safety
- Adhering to internal safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment and reporting near miss incidents.
Continuous Improvement
- Participating in initiatives to improve inspection processes and product quality.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- GCSE 5+ Maths and Science or equivalent
Skills
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Competent in manual measuring techniques.
- Knowledge of Non-Conformance reporting advantageous
- Awareness of calibration requirements advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and reporting skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
