Overview
We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Workshop Technician to join our team, specialising in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of cold rooms and temperature-controlled environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical skills, a strong work ethic, and an eye for detail who enjoys working in a workshop and occasionally on customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and assemble cold room panels, doors, and associated components.
- Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on existing cold rooms.
- Install refrigeration-related fixtures and insulation systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Prepare materials and equipment for workshop projects and site installations.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting equipment when required.
- Complete job documentation and report progress to the Workshop Manager.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Practical experience in construction, fabrication, joinery, mechanical assembly, or a similar hands-on trade.
- Competent using hand and power tools.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence. (Experience in towing would be great).
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable:
- Experience building or maintaining cold rooms, refrigerated environments, or insulated panel systems.
- Experience working with refrigeration or HVAC equipment.
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one).
