A Pharmacist Manager role with no weekend working, a full hour's closed lunch every day, and a dispensary model built to keep you off the checking bench. £62,000 to £65,000 at an independent group where you genuinely run the branch.
Hirshmans is a busy, well-established community pharmacy dispensing approximately 18,000 NHS items each month, alongside a high volume of Pharmacy First, NHS and private services, OTC healthcare and seasonal vaccination activity.
But high volume does not have to mean spending your entire day at the checking bench.
Hirshmans operates ProScript ScriptCheck, alongside barcode-enabled dispensing and an experienced dispensary team who manage the majority of the dispensing and accuracy checking workflow. You retain appropriate clinical oversight, while having more capacity to focus on what increasingly matters in community pharmacy: patients, clinical services and leading your team.
The role
As Pharmacist Manager, you will take day-to-day ownership of Hirshmans and lead the pharmacy team, with genuine autonomy to run the branch alongside support from our wider operational and professional team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as Responsible Pharmacist and maintaining high standards of patient safety, governance and professional practice
- Providing day-to-day leadership to the pharmacy team, setting clear expectations and developing your colleagues
- Delivering and developing NHS clinical services, including Pharmacy First
- Supporting our established private healthcare services, including our Travel Health Clinic
- Leading seasonal flu and COVID vaccination activity
- Building strong relationships with patients and the local healthcare community
- Taking ownership of branch performance, including service delivery, OTC activity, stock management, purchasing and appropriate staffing costs
This is a genuine management role. We are looking for somebody who wants ownership of their pharmacy and team, while still spending a significant part of their working week practising as a pharmacist.
Your working week
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6:00pm, 42.5 hours per week. The pharmacy closes between 1:00pm and 2:00pm each day for lunch. There is no regular Saturday or weekend commitment, with Saturday pharmacist cover arranged separately.
Who are we looking for?
You must be a GPhC-registered pharmacist with good experience of community pharmacy practice. Previous management experience is valuable but not essential - we would be very interested in an experienced community pharmacist who is already demonstrating leadership and feels ready to step up into a Pharmacist Manager position. An Independent Prescribing qualification is welcomed but not essential, and we will support the right candidate to gain it.
