Our Pallet and Parcel Loader and Sorter is responsible for the safe and efficient loading, unloading and segregation of our Pallet and Parcel freight. Inc. but not limited to the safe loading of vehicles, manually handling freight and using plant and machinery typically a forklift truck. A typical shift will consist of working in both areas for 4 hours firstly assisting our parcel network during their peak operating window followed by our pallet network during their morning loading window.
Key Responsibilities
Safely load and unload freight to and from fleet vehicles ranging from light commercial vehicles (LCV) to fully articulated heavy goods vehicles (HGV’s)
· Carry out this loading and unloading manually or by using plant and machinery equipment, typically For Lift Trucks (FLT)
· Accurately sort pallets and parcels according to destination, route or customer requirements.
· Check freight for damage, correct labelling and accurate quantities prior to loading. · Ensure loads are safely secured and distributed in line with any weight and safety regulations.
· Report any discrepancies, damages or shortages to the relevant supervisor. · Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area at all times.
· Follow all site Health and Safety procedures, including safe manual handling.
· Work collaboratively with drivers, warehouse staff, and supervisors to meet service deadlines.
-Must be able to operate a counterbalance FLT, further training on machinery will be provided if and when required.
