New Formation Education is recruiting on behalf of a well-established all-through specialist school in Tooting, Wandsworth, supporting pupils aged 5-19 with Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team where you'll work across both primary and secondary phases, helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning while developing your own specialist SEN experience.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils aged 5-19 with Autism, SEMH and additional learning needs.
- Work across both primary and secondary classrooms.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support.
- Help pupils engage with learning and build confidence.
- Promote emotional regulation, communication and independence.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils throughout the school day.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team.

We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates with experience in:
✔ Specialist SEMH or Autism Schools
✔ PRUs or Alternative Provisions
✔ Mainstream Schools with SEN or Behaviour Support
✔ Youth Work or Mentoring
✔ Residential Childcare
✔ Care or Support Work
✔ Behaviour Outreach or Pastoral Support
The ideal candidate will be:
- Calm, resilient and proactive.
- Confident supporting pupils with SEMH and Autism.
- Positive and consistent when managing behaviour.
- Comfortable working with children and young people across different age groups.
- Passionate about helping every pupil reach their potential.

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and/or Autism.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Confidence working with pupils aged 5-19.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
