Experienced Head Baker – Immediate Start
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Head Baker to join our small, dedicated team in the historic hillside town of Malmesbury. Our expanding business operates from a well‑established 17th‑century high‑street bakery, where all of our products are crafted on-site. The shop is the heart of everything we do.
You will work closely alongside the owner, contributing to a high‑quality, traditional baking operation.
Position Details
- Full-time: 4 days per week (37–45 hours)
- Days off: Sunday , Monday, Tuesday
- Shift pattern: Typically 00:00–10:00
- Start date: Immediate
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ professional baking experience
- Strong knowledge of sourdough, fermentation, yeasted breads, confectionery, and pastry
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, and to a high standard
- A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine enjoyment of teamwork
- Reliability and consistency in both attendance and performance
- Creativity and willingness to contribute new ideas
- Pastry production experience is an advantage
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high‑quality, handcrafted breads and pastries using traditional methods
- Mix, shape, proof, and bake dough to achieve excellent flavour and appearance
- Maintain consistent quality standards and meet production deadlines
- Ensure the bakery remains clean, safe, and well‑organised in line with hygiene regulations
- Manage ingredients, stock rotation, and inventory
- Collaborate with the team to meet targets and improve processes
- Troubleshoot production or equipment issues as needed
- Managing and training your team to be as efficent as possible
