Overview
We are looking for a reliable, organised and practical Warehouse & Delivery Driver to join our team. This is a varied, hands-on role combining warehouse and yard management, driving, stock collection and delivery, vehicle management, and general facilities support.
The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping our warehouse and yard organised, ensuring materials and equipment are available when required, and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of our sites.
The role will involve collecting materials and stock from suppliers, delivering goods and equipment to sites as required, and ensuring that company vehicles are kept safe, roadworthy, serviced and compliant. You will also be responsible for coordinating vehicle MOTs, servicing and minor repairs, as well as carrying out basic checks and reporting any issues promptly.
There will also be a range of minor facilities management and general maintenance duties, making this an ideal role for someone who is hands-on, dependable, proactive and comfortable with a varied workload.
Key ResponsibilitiesWarehouse & Yard
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day organisation, cleanliness and upkeep of the warehouse and yard.
- Receive, check, store and organise incoming stock, materials, tools and equipment.
- Ensure materials are stored safely, securely and in an organised manner.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse and yard.
- Assist with stock control, including monitoring stock levels and identifying when items need replenishing.
- Prepare materials, equipment and stock for collection or delivery to site.
- Keep the yard organised and ensure access routes and working areas remain clear and safe.
- Report damaged, missing or low-stock items to the appropriate person.
Collections & Deliveries
- Collect materials, equipment and stock from suppliers and other locations.
- Deliver materials, equipment and other items to company sites as required.
- Ensure deliveries and collections are carried out safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
- Load and unload vehicles safely, using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques.
- Check goods against delivery notes, purchase orders or collection documentation where required.
- Obtain and maintain appropriate delivery and collection records.
- Represent the company professionally when dealing with suppliers, site teams and other external contacts.
- Plan journeys efficiently and communicate any delays or issues promptly.
Company Vehicles & Fleet
- Carry out routine vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Ensure company vehicles are kept clean, tidy and in a safe and roadworthy condition.
- Coordinate and arrange vehicle servicing, MOTs, inspections, repairs and routine maintenance as required.
- Take vehicles to garages, MOT stations, tyre centres and other service providers when required.
- Keep track of servicing, MOTs, repairs and other vehicle-related requirements to ensure they remain up to date.
- Arrange and/or carry out minor vehicle-related tasks such as topping up fluids, replacing bulbs, checking tyres and other basic maintenance where appropriate.
- Report more significant mechanical or safety issues promptly and ensure vehicles are not used where they may be unsafe.
- Assist with the movement and positioning of company vehicles as required.
Facilities & General Duties
- Assist with minor facilities management and general maintenance tasks across the warehouse, yard and company premises.
- Identify and report maintenance issues, defects or health and safety concerns.
- Assist with arranging contractors and service providers where required.
- Carry out minor repairs and general upkeep tasks within the limits of your skills and competence.
- Help maintain a safe, clean and well-presented working environment.
- Support the wider team with practical, ad-hoc duties as required.
Skills & Experience Essential
- Must be over 25 (for fleet insurance purposes) with a Full clean UK driving licence.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, delivery, logistics, facilities, maintenance or similar hands-on role.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to identify and resolve straightforward problems.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with suppliers, colleagues and site teams.
- Good awareness of vehicle safety and basic vehicle maintenance.
- Physically capable of loading and unloading materials and carrying out manual tasks.
- A good understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
Desirable
- Experience managing or maintaining a warehouse and/or external yard.
- Previous experience arranging vehicle servicing, MOTs, repairs or fleet maintenance.
- Experience in facilities management, property maintenance or general building maintenance.
- Experience working within a construction, engineering, manufacturing or similar environment.
- Forklift or other relevant equipment certification.
- Experience using stock control systems or basic inventory management processes.
