Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Stores and Despatch Team Leader to oversee the efficient operation of our warehouse, focusing on materials handling, shipping, receiving, and team management. Duties
- Lead and manage the stores and despatch team to ensure timely processing of incoming and outgoing shipments
- Oversee materials handling activities, including heavy lifting and forklift operations, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times
- Coordinate shipping and receiving operations using warehouse management systems such as AS400 or similar platforms
- Implement process improvements to optimize workflow efficiency and reduce errors in logistics procedures
- Conduct regular safety inspections, mechanical checks on equipment like forklifts, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Manage inventory accuracy through regular stock counts, audits, and reconciliation efforts
- Collaborate with 3PL providers to streamline third-party logistics operations and improve overall supply chain performance
Experience
- Proven experience in warehouse management or logistics roles with a focus on materials handling and shipping & receiving
- Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate, train, and develop staff effectively
- Hands-on experience operating forklifts and mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment maintenance
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems such as AS400 or equivalent software solutions
- Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques, safety standards, and process improvement methodologies in a warehouse setting
- Experience working with 3PL providers and managing logistics operations within a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control and documentation processes
