What will I be doing?
As driver / yard assistant you will be a dedicated professional to play a pivotal role in supporting the yard supervisor and yard team to deliver an excellent customer experience. In order to support our customers and deliver a great service you will:
- Coordinate with Workshop and receive all materials and prepare necessary paperwork for same
- Deliver timber to customers and unload safely when there
- Welcome customers to the branch and take an active interest in their projects
- Get to know our product lines so you can offer advice and help to customers, making the most of all customer interactions in line with our Values
- Help to prepare customer orders, load and unload customer and supplier vehicles using a Forklift Truck to minimise manual handling (training will be provided)
- Keep the branch looking clean and tidy, to make a great first impression on our customers
- Use our in-house systems to process customer orders to support the branch team, as and when required
- Make Health & Safety a priority and demonstrate how you can keep yourself and others safe at work
- Ensure proper handling of all materials and store it appropriately.
- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on equipment’s and prepare report to submit to Site manager.
- Maintain optimal level of customer services and assist to resolve all customer issues.
- Monitor inventory of yard supplies and place purchase orders as necessary.
- Develop and implement yard fire protection programs to ensure fire safety.
- Work with colleagues to suggest opportunities for improvement
Hours of work: 7:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday with a Wednesday off, every Saturday 8:00am - 12:30pm
A full, clean driving licence is required for this role.
7.5 tonne lorry licence is desirable.
Training will be offered to obtain your Forklift Truck licence, after successfully passing your probationary period.
