Bank Children’s & Family Support Worker

In this varied role, you will support children, young people, families and carers in home, hospital and community settings, particularly during periods of crisis. You will also provide outreach support and respite care tailored to each child’s or family’s individual needs.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supervising family contact sessions for looked-after children
- Providing outreach support to children, young people and families
- Providing planned respite care and short-term support
- Supervising and supporting children and young people in their homes
- Providing supervision and support in hospital settings
- Supporting children and families with daily routines
- Mentoring children and young people
- Helping families navigate challenging circumstances
- Supporting young people to develop confidence, independence and personal safety
We are looking for resilient, passionate and adaptable individuals who work well as part of a team. You should be kind and compassionate while having the confidence to set appropriate boundaries and challenge concerns when necessary.
At least one year’s experience supporting children or young people is essential. Our friendly team will support you throughout your role, and your first shift may be arranged as a shadow shift to help you become familiar with the work.
As our roles are community-based, you will need to travel to meet children, young people, families and carers. A driving licence and access to a car are advantageous. Mileage incurred during shifts will be reimbursed.
To help protect the vulnerable children and young people we support, you will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS check and register it with the DBS Update Service. We will cover the cost of your required on-the-job training.
Applicants should have:
- At least one year’s relevant support-work experience
- A Level 3 safeguarding qualification
- GCSEs or an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent relevant qualification

Pay: £12.71-£17.71 per hour
