We’re currently on looking for a Housekeeper to join our team at Queen Alexandra’s House in Kensington. Up to 40 hours per week to work on a shift basis throughout the hours of 07:00am - 20:30pm Monday to Sunday.

Queen Alexandra’s House (QAH) was founded in 1884 by Sir Francis Cook Bart, in order to provide accommodation for women students at the Royal College of Music, Royal College of Art and the Royal College of Science. It has kept to Sir Francis’ original attention, but the fields of study have widened to include many other activities

- Cleaning accommodation and staff areas as per designated routine as well as some ad-hoc request from senior housekeeper
- Room-setting and other set up other amenities
- Dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures
- Cleaning and sanitising toilets, showers/bathtubs, countertops, and sinks
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen area
- Making beds and changing linens when required
- Washing windows
- Vacuuming and cleaning carpets and rugs
- Sweeping/vacuuming, polishing, and mopping hard floors and stairs
- Sorting, washing, loading, and unloading laundry
- Using any cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and other cleaning tools
- Keeping bathrooms stocked with clean linens, toiletries, and other supplies
- Cleaning mirrors and other glass surfaces
- Emptying trash receptacles and disposing of waste
- Steaming and cleaning draperies
- Washing blinds
- Tidying up rooms
- Cleaning communal kitchens
- Empty fridge of any food that is past it’s expiry date, clean fridge
- Monitoring cleaning supplies and ordering more as needed
- Reporting any necessary repairs or replacements
- Serving food and general kitchen duties including washing up / wiping down tables etc
- Carry out inspections and report any defects and missing items to line managers or the maintenance team, paying attention to health and safety-related concerns
- Use appropriate signed to warn or potential hazards (i.e. “wet floor”)
- Monitor cleaning stock levels and let line manager know when the stocks need replenishing
- Attend training course and briefings as required to keep up to date with Health and Safety regulations
- Cooperate with the rest of the staff
- Understanding and follow all company policies and procedures e.g Health and Safety, Operational Procedures, Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Comply with Fire Safety Procedures and be competent in Fire Evacuation and a role model for residents, visitors and contractors.
- First Aid
- Comply with Food Hygiene proceduresWorking within Health & Safety at Work Act, taking reasonable care for H&S both for themselves and others at all times.
- Participate in annual performance reviews, training and development.
- To attend training courses as required and identified.
- To actively support equality and diversity.
