This is a key role within the organisation and would suit someone who is confident working independently, has excellent attention to detail and enjoys being responsible for getting things right.
You will work closely with senior management, Home Managers and external accountants, providing accurate financial information and helping to ensure that our finance function continues to develop alongside the growth of the business.

- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
- Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, payments and receipts.
- Managing purchase and sales ledgers.
- Completing regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies.
- Preparing and posting month-end journals, including accruals and prepayments.
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Monitoring income and expenditure across individual care homes.
- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Assisting with cash flow monitoring and financial reporting.
- Assisting with VAT returns and other financial compliance requirements.
- Working with external accountants and providing information for year-end accounts.
- Supporting payroll reconciliations and reviewing payroll-related transactions.
- Working closely with Home Managers to resolve financial queries and ensure expenditure is correctly recorded.
- Maintaining clear and accurate financial records for each company and care home.
- Helping to strengthen financial controls and processes across the group.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function.
- Supporting the integration of new care homes as the group continues to grow.
About you
We are looking for someone who can take genuine ownership of the role and become a trusted member of our organisation.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Senior Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant or similar.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Experience managing accounts for multiple companies, sites or entities.
- Experience with month-end processes and reconciliations.
- Good knowledge of VAT and general financial controls.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with senior management, care home managers, suppliers and external accountants.
- A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.
Experience in care or healthcare
Previous experience within care homes, nursing homes, healthcare, social care or another multi-site organisation would be highly advantageous, although it is not essential.
What is important to us is that you understand the importance of accurate financial information, confidentiality, strong financial controls and meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
An AAT qualification or recognised bookkeeping/accounting qualification would be desirable but is not essential where the candidate has strong relevant experience.
What we're looking for in the right person
You will be:
- Accurate – you take pride in getting the detail right.
- Organised – you can manage the finances of multiple sites and entities.
- Proactive – you don't just identify problems; you look for solutions.
- Reliable – you can be trusted to meet deadlines and deliver accurate information.
- Confidential and professional – you will be dealing with sensitive financial and payroll information.
- Commercially aware – you understand how good financial management supports the wider organisation.
- A team player – you are comfortable working with colleagues across the care homes and the wider business.
