At Olivet Nursing Home, we are currently recruiting for a Physio Assistant to join our team, working 15 hours per week. Please be aware that this is a temporary maternity cover position.
In this role, you will play an active part in the rehabilitation of residents as required and directed by the Physiotherapists. You will support the residents in their care by undertaking exercises and treatment protocols as advice by the Physiotherapists, as well as observing and reporting on how residents are tolerating exercises and interventions. Physio Assistants play a vital role in supporting resident wellbeing and independence and help residents to maintain their mobility, improve their physical health and enhance their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Physiotherapists in delivering personalised rehabilitation programmes, including exercises, mobility training and equipment use.
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, walking and safe moving and handling to promote independence and reduce falls risk.
- Monitor, record, and report resident progress, condition changes and therapy outcomes in line with regulations.
- Assess, issue, maintain and provide guidance on mobility aids as delegated by the Physiotherapists.
- Work closely with residents, families and the wider care team to support therapy goals, encourage engagement and address concerns.
- Promote resident dignity, safety and wellbeing by identifying risks, leading approved exercises groups and upholding organisational values.
Person Specification:
- A sensitive approach and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to motivate and encourage residents to participate in rehabilitation activities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
- Active listening and effective communication skills to communicate effectively with residents, colleagues and families.
- Knowledge and experience in basic levels of care provision to enable support to be provided in a discreet and caring manner.
