What you will be doing:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and commercially driven New Business Development Manager to play a key role in expanding Belman Performance Automotive's customer base.
Your primary focus will be identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities within the Defence, Medical, Aerospace and Automotive sectors, with Defence being the highest priority. You will be responsible for creating and managing a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities while building long-term relationships with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and engineering organisations.
Working closely with the Group Commercial Director, you will identify opportunities that align with our manufacturing capabilities and convert them into long-term partnerships.
This is a highly autonomous role suited to someone who enjoys opening doors, building relationships and delivering sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan focused on: Defence, Medical, Aerospace and Automotive
- Generate and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified sales opportunities.
- Research and identify prospective customers that fit Belman's manufacturing capabilities.
- Prospect new customers through networking, industry events, referrals, LinkedIn, outbound activity and extensive list of existing contacts.
- Arrange and attend customer meetings both on-site and at customer locations across the UK.
- Understand customer requirements and identify manufacturing solutions that meet their needs.
- Work closely with Engineering teams to prepare competitive quotations and proposals.
- Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through quotation, negotiation and contract award.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, quotations and sales activity using the company CRM system.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
- Represent Belman Performance Automotive professionally at exhibitions, networking events and customer visits.
- Work collaboratively across Engineering, Production and Quality to ensure excellent customer experience throughout the sales process.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the company's long-term commercial strategy.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in Business Development, Technical Sales or Account Management within precision engineering or manufacturing.
- Demonstrable success generating new business and developing sales pipelines.
- Experience selling into one or more of the following sectors: Defence, Medical, Aerospace or Automotive
- Strong commercial negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to build relationships with customers at all levels.
- Experience managing opportunities from prospecting through to contract award.
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK.
- Existing network of contacts within Defence, Medical or Aerospace manufacturing.
- Experience working with RFQs, engineering drawings and technical quotations.
- Understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100 or sector-specific requirements.
