Promethean Construction Ltd is a growing, family-run construction and maintenance company specialising in refurbishment, maintenance, compliance and minor capital works across the healthcare, commercial and public sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Construction Site Manager to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a progressive business delivering high-quality construction projects throughout London and the Home Counties, with a strong focus on NHS healthcare estates.
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of multiple construction projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
A significant proportion of our work is undertaken within live NHS environments, therefore experience of working in occupied healthcare premises and maintaining continuity of clinical services is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover,
- Plan and coordinate all site activities, labour, plant and subcontractors,
- Ensure works are completed safely and in accordance with CDM 2015 and current Health & Safety legislation,
- Prepare, review and implement Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, permits and site documentation,
- Liaise with NHS Estates Teams, Trust Representatives, Design Teams, Consultants and Clients,
- Ensure works comply with Building Regulations, British Standards, HTMs, HBNs and client specifications,
- Monitor programme performance and coordinate subcontractors to achieve project milestones,
- Carry out quality inspections, snagging and final handovers,
- Maintain excellent communication with all stakeholders within occupied healthcare environments,
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping, infection prevention controls and site safety are maintained at all times,
- Produce site progress reports and maintain accurate project records,
- Manage material procurement, deliveries and logistics,

Essential Experience:
- Previous experience as a Construction Site Manager within the UK construction industry,
- Proven track record of managing complex refurbishments projects in live healthcare environments
- Experience managing projects within live occupied NHS healthcare environments,
- Experience working within hospitals, mental health facilities, community healthcare buildings or GP surgeries,
- Excellent understanding of working around clinical services whilst minimising disruption,
- Experience managing multiple subcontract trades,
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction practices,
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills,
- Full UK Driving Licence (travel between sites across London and the Home Counties).
Essential Knowledge:
Applicants should have demonstrable experience working in accordance with:
- Health Technical Memoranda (HTM),
- Health Building Notes (HBN),
- SFG20 Planned Maintenance Standards,
- CDM Regulations 2015,
- Building Safety requirements,
- NHS Infection Prevention & Control procedures,
- Permit-to-Work systems,
- Live occupied healthcare environments.
Essential Qualifications:
Applicants must hold:
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme),
- CSCS Black Manager Card or Gold Supervisory Card,
- First Aid at Work (3 Day),
- Asbestos Awareness,
- Manual Handling,
- Working at Height,
- Fire Safety Awareness,
- Full UK Driving Licence (travel between sites across London and the Home Counties)
Security Requirements:
Due to the nature of our projects within healthcare environments, applicants must be able to satisfy NHS security requirements.
This includes:
- Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one),
- Eligibility to work within secure NHS and public sector facilities,
- Willingness to comply with all Trust security, safeguarding and confidentiality procedures.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
The following would be advantageous:
- NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Construction Site Management (or equivalent),
- CIOB Membership (or working towards),
- NEBOSH General Certificate,
- Temporary Works Coordinator,
- PASMA,
- IPAF (3a & 3b),
- CAT & Genny,
- Face Fit Testing,
- COSHH Awareness,
- Mental Health First Aid,
- Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Training,
- Authorised Person awareness,
- Experience working under HTM 00, HTM 03, HTM 04, HTM 05 and HTM 06 guidance,
- Experience delivering projects within acute hospitals, mental health facilities and primary care settings.
