Access Platform Engineer
We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Access Platform Engineer to join our growing team. This role is primarily focused on major repairs, diagnostics, refurbishment and fault finding on vehicle-mounted access platforms and associated equipment.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest possible standards, supporting operational uptime and delivering excellent service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out major repairs, refurbishment work and complex fault finding on vehicle-mounted access platforms.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical and mechanical faults efficiently and safely.
- Complete maintenance and repair work in line with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
- Communicate effectively with the Depot Manager regarding defects, unsafe equipment or additional repair requirements.
- Use diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge to identify and resolve issues quickly.
- Accurately complete job records using the company handheld tablet system, including labour allocation and parts usage.
- Ensure all vehicle statuses are updated correctly and in real time.
- Support workshop efficiency through effective stock control and reporting of parts usage.
- Identify and report warranty repairs or potential customer recharge work to the Service Department.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
- Follow all company policies and procedures outlined within the Employee Handbook.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience repairing and maintaining mobile or vehicle-mounted access platforms.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulics, auto electrics and mechanical systems.
- IPAF Competent Assessed Person (CAP) qualification preferred.
- Relevant engineering or maintenance qualifications with experience gained within the plant hire, powered access or rental sector.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A proactive, reliable and safety-focused approach to work.
