Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Plasterer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for both boarding and plastering interior and exterior surfaces — fixing plasterboard as well as applying plaster to a high-quality finish, while adhering to safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in dry lining, masonry, carpentry, or related trades to develop their skills within a professional environment. The position is paid and suitable for both experienced tradespeople and those eager to learn the craft.
Duties
- Fix and board plasterboard to walls and ceilings, including measuring, cutting, and securing boards to timber or metal frameworks.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and applying necessary primers before plastering.
- Mix plaster materials to specified consistencies using hand tools or power mixers.
- Apply plaster to walls, ceilings, and other structures using trowels, hawks, and floats to achieve smooth finishes.
- Tape and joint boarded surfaces where required to achieve a seamless finish.
- Utilise bricklaying, masonry, and other trade skills as needed for specialised applications.
- Operate power tools such as drills, saws, and sanders safely and efficiently.
- Assist with carpentry tasks related to framing or support structures when required.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean work environment by tidying tools and disposing of waste materials appropriately.
Requirements
- Proven experience in plastering and plasterboarding, or related trades such as dry lining, masonry, bricklaying, or carpentry, is preferred.
- Ability to both board and skim walls and ceilings to a high standard.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for boarding and plastering tasks.
- Knowledge of masonry and roofing basics is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality finishes.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow technical drawings and instructions.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights if necessary.
- Valid health and safety awareness relevant to construction sites is essential.
