Job description
MiniJam baby music classes are looking for new staff members to join our team of merry musicians.
Primarily seeking a musician to cover a few hours teaching over the course of the day in Parsons Green on a Monday (10am / 10:30am / 3:15pm & 4pm) starting asap - teaching commencing September 2026.
We're based around Clapham, Tooting, Wimbledon, Balham, Earlsfield, Chelsea, Streatham and Putney areas with opportunities regularly opening across these sites too.
The classes involve instrumental performance together with percussion funsies for the little ones. Our MiniJam tutors have the ability to charm and engage up to 12 preschoolers (alongside their parent/carer). Though the job requires energy , it is also energising! Some experience (even babysitting) with young children is a huge leg up in learning the skills needed to run the classes. The sessions are massively fulfilling once you have learned the format and skills to deal with young children. Training course of whimsical yet informative videos supplied ahead of audition.
Other desirable skills for the gig are:
- Play at least one instrument to a professional level
- Be able to sing to a basic level
- Outgoing and warm personality
- Ability to chat and make pals with both adults & kids
- Amiable - Bringing together a group of people who do not know each other
- Basic technology skills (be able to use an ipad and Bluetooth etc)
- Be able to stay calm under pressure and deal with unforeseen circumstances
- Good communicator and organised
- Reliable and on time.
- Be able to move suitcase containing the gear + mats (on shoulder strap) to venue and back to lockup (journey times kept to a minimum as much as possible. Easier for drivers but many of our staff manage fine on public transport. We aim to make public transport connections / routes as direct as possible.)
Our classes run weekday mornings and/or between 3-5pm in afternoons and so can fit in very well with gigs. They are 30-45mins in length.
Although we do ask for regular commitment, we are happy to arrange cover if needed if you are on short tours or have a daytime gig.
MiniJam a fun-loving, supportive and sociable team of musicians with a mutual love of early years education through musical play. If you think you may be a good fit for the gig, get in touch.
