Commercial Marketing Assistant (FMCG)
We're looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Commercial Marketing Assistant to join our growing FMCG business.
Maxwell Foods specialises in dried fruit, nuts and healthier snacking products, supplying major retailers across the UK and international markets. Our UK team is focused on growing our exciting portfolio of retailer and branded products that make healthier snacking more accessible, appealing and relevant to today’s consumers.
This is a varied and hands-on role suited to someone early in their career who wants broad exposure to how consumer products are developed, marketed, sold and launched into major retailers.
The role will work closely with the commercial team and will involve a mix of marketing support, brand activity, market research, commercial document preparation, digital content creation and general office and commercial administration.
Based in a modern city centre office just seconds from Leeds train station, this is an opportunity to gain experience across multiple areas of the business rather than being confined to a narrow marketing role.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Digital
- Updating and maintaining company and brand websites
- Supporting social media, LinkedIn and email marketing activity
- Creating simple marketing assets using Canva or similar tools
- Assisting with content planning and execution across multiple brands
- Supporting CRM and email database management
- Exploring new digital opportunities including TikTok Shop and e-commerce platforms
Market Research & Category Support
- Conducting store visits and online market research
- Tracking competitor activity, pricing, promotions and new product launches
- Building and maintaining digital category fixtures by retailer
- Monitoring developments across UK and European markets
Commercial & Brand Support
- Assisting with retailer presentations, sales materials and product sheets
- Supporting NPD projects, samples, artwork and launch activity
- Helping coordinate promotions, competitions and collectables campaigns
- Supporting trade shows and brand activities
- Maintaining marketing and commercial documentation
- Assisting with day-to-day commercial projects and business initiatives
Administration
- Supporting general office administration
- Providing ad hoc support to the wider commercial team
- Helping ensure projects and activities are delivered on time
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Enthusiastic and motivated
- Dynamic and proactive
- Confident and professional
- Creative and full of ideas
- Highly organised and detail orientated
- Commercially curious
- Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Interested in brands, retail, food and consumer products
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications
- Keen to learn and willing to get stuck in to a variety of tasks
Working Pattern
This is a full-time role based out of our Leeds office (typically Monday-Friday 9-5). Exact working arrangement can be discussed with the successful applicant.
A full UK driving licence would be advantageous, as the role may involve occasional travel, store visits and market research.
The Opportunity
This is not a role where you will spend your time making coffee and photocopying documents! You'll be given genuine responsibility, exposure to major retailers, involvement in product launches and the opportunity to contribute to real commercial decisions.
The scope of the opportunity is only really limited by the individual. If you have ideas, spot opportunities, and want to help develop them into real commercial activity, you will be encouraged to do so. We're a small and entrepreneurial UK team within a global food business, and so this is a rare opportunity to see the full commercial process up close, get involved across multiple areas of the business and make a meaningful contribution early in your career.
For the right person, this role could develop into brand, category, marketing or broader commercial leadership responsibilities over time.
