This is a part-time role, a minimum of 10 hours per week but this can increase during busy periods.
The salary range is £30,000 - £45,000 full time, dependent on experience. Pro rata is £8,000 - £12,000 for 10 hours per week.

About the role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Senior Finance Administrator to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working within a growing technology company and is comfortable taking ownership of financial administration while providing management information and financial insights to support business decisions.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and external accountants to ensure that financial information is accurate, up-to-date and available to support strategic planning, budgeting and board-level reporting.
This is a hands-on role covering financial administration, reporting, compliance and forecasting support. The position offers significant flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing deep-tech company.

Responsibilities
Financial Administration
- Maintain company financial records and ensure accurate bookkeeping within Xero.
- Raise customer invoices and monitor outstanding payments.
- Process supplier invoices, expenses and receipts.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
- Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
- Ensure financial records are maintained to audit-ready standards.
- Liaise with external accountants as required.
Payroll & Compliance
- Manage monthly payroll processes and employee expense claims.
- Assist with PAYE, VAT and Corporation Tax administration.
- Maintain records required for regulatory and statutory compliance.
- Support external accountants with year-end accounts and audit requirements.
Budgeting & Forecasting Support
- Maintain company cashflow forecasts.
- Assist with business budgeting and financial planning activities.
- Track actual expenditure against budgets.
- Support scenario planning and cost modelling activities.
- Maintain forecasts for staffing, overheads and operating costs.
Grant & R&D Finance Support
- Prepare financial reports for grant project reviews.
- Track grant expenditure and project budgets.
- Support preparation of R&D Tax Credit claims by maintaining supporting documentation and financial records.
- Monitor project costs and assist with project financial reporting.
Management Information (MI) & KPI Reporting
Produce a monthly finance and management information report including:
- Cash runway forecast.
- Monthly recurring operating costs.
- Revenue forecast.
- Actual versus budget analysis.
- Grant burn-rate reporting.
- Staff cost forecasts.
- Project profitability analysis.
- Sales pipeline financial impact.
- Key financial KPI dashboard for board meetings.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and controls.
- Improve automation and efficiency within Xero and associated finance systems.
- Support the implementation of financial reporting tools and dashboards as the company grows.
Skills
Essential
- Previous experience in a finance administration, bookkeeping or accounts management role.
- Experience using Xero or similar accounting software.
- Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills.
- Experience managing payroll and expense processes.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- AAT qualification (Level 3 or above) or equivalent experience.
- Experience working within a technology, engineering or software company.
- Experience supporting grant-funded projects.
- Familiarity with R&D Tax Relief claims.
- Experience creating financial dashboards and management reports.
