An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated elections professional to join Rotherham Council's high-performing Electoral Services team.
Electoral Services is a high-profile service that plays a key role in supporting local democracy. As part of the team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of elections and referendums, with responsibility for recruiting and administering polling station and count staff, preparing polling station materials and equipment, processing overseas elector registrations, and managing the distribution of the electoral register and monthly updates.
We are seeking an individual with relevant experience, ideally gained within an electoral services environment, who is looking to further develop their career in this specialist field.
You will preferably be a member of the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) and either hold, or be willing to work towards, the AEA Certificate in Electoral Administration. You will have a sound understanding of electoral legislation and the statutory framework governing elections and electoral registration.
You will:

Assist in the organisation and delivery of all elections and referendums, while undertaking duties associated with electoral registration throughout the year and during the annual canvass.
- Demonstrate a methodical approach to problem-solving, remain calm under pressure, and be comfortable working to demanding timescales and fixed statutory deadlines.
- Possess excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy.
- Be an effective communicator with strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience of using electoral management systems.
- Have a positive and flexible approach, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and a commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.

Additional information
This is a politically restricted post. Annual leave is restricted during certain times of the year e.g. before and during election and canvass periods. You will be required to work additional hours during busy periods, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Interviews will be held week commencing Monday 21 September 2026. The format of the interview will be in person at Bailey House, Rotherham and will involve a short work-based presentation relating to the role.
