Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and reliable Caretaker/Cleaners (two to cover mornings and one to cover the afternoons) to maintain the cleanliness and organisation of our Stadium. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring a hygienic, safe, and welcoming environment across various commercial settings. Responsibilities
- Carry out general cleaning duties across the stadium, including offices, corridors, communal areas, event spaces and public-facing spaces
- Clean and maintain the reception area to a consistently high standard, ensuring a positive first impression for visitors
- Clean and restock all toilet facilities, maintaining hygiene standards throughout the day
- Open the stadium each morning, unlocking access for cleaning staff only, ahead of office and events staff arriving on site, in line with agreed security and opening procedures
- Litter-pick and tidy external and internal public areas as required
- Report any maintenance issues, damage or security concerns identified while on site
- Follow cleaning schedules, checklists and safe systems of work, using the correct equipment and products for each task
- Support additional cleaning requirements on match days, events and as otherwise requested by the Stadium Manager
- Maintain a safe, tidy storage area for cleaning equipment and materials
- Work flexibly to cover additional hours where required, including during busier operational periods
Person Specification
Essential
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking, with a positive, can-do attitude
- Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Ability to follow instructions, cleaning schedules and checklists accurately
- Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including extensive walking around the stadium, bending, kneeling and manual handling
- Flexible and willing to work additional hours on match days and events, including evenings and weekends as required
- Willing to undergo a basic DBS check, given the community and public-facing nature of the stadium
Desirable
- Previous experience in a cleaning or facilities role, ideally in a stadium, leisure or public venue environment
- Awareness of safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment (COSHH)
- Comfortable working around large public spaces and, on match days, in a live event environment
Working Conditions
- Based at AESSEAL New York Stadium, New York Way, Rotherham, S60 1AH
- Afternoon shift pattern, Monday to Friday
- Extensive walking around the stadium concourses and stands
- PPE and cleaning products provided; full training given
- Match day and event working required in addition to core hours, in line with the RUFC 2026/27 fixture calendar
Pay: £12.71 per hour
