We have an incredible new opportunity for a Senior Support Worker to join Landau. As a Senior Support Worker, you will provide high quality, person centred support to adults with learning disabilities in centre and within the community, promoting independence, wellbeing, and inclusion.
The Senior Support Worker leads and supports staff in delivering meaningful activities, safeguarding individuals, and ensuring care plans are followed effectively. The role contributes to a safe, empowering environment where individuals can develop skills, build confidence, and engage fully in daily opportunities.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Oversee and provide day-to-day support for individuals with learning disabilities in line with their individual care and support plans.
- Collaborate with the coordinator to identify any additional support and intervention activities required, tailoring activities and materials, to enable learners to succeed and achieve
- Support safe participation in centre-based and community-based learning activities.
- Work with individuals who require targeted support to complete all tasks and activities, supporting learners to develop their knowledge, skills and experience and grow in confidence and independence
- Identifying barriers to learning and devise and develop a range of appropriate strategies to assist learners in resolving issues or tackling concerns
- Attend scheduled events outside of normal working hours to support Landau in the recognition of learners progress and the promotion of our services.
- Promote good behaviour management, applying policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, and take appropriate action in a timely and sensitive manner, completing records or reports accurately where required
- Mentor and coach Support Workers, modelling best practice and professional conduct.
- Support the coordinator in the organisation of daily rotas and activity schedules to ensure appropriate staffing and smooth service delivery.
- Assist with induction and training of new staff as required
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily notes, incident reports, and support plans.
- Being aware of confidential issues linked to learner/home and personal situations and to adhere to Safeguarding and Confidentiality Policies and Procedures
- Ensure that the coordinator is kept fully informed of learner progress, and support liaison with learners, parents and relevant stakeholders, agencies etc as appropriate, reporting where required
- Support learners on a 121 basis where required adhering to their personal care plans and risk assessments
- Report any concerns regarding wellbeing, safeguarding, or health promptly to the Coordinator or Manager and follow company policies
- Act as the senior point of contact during shifts, providing guidance, supervision, and support to staff.
- Act as the key worker for identified learners, championing their engagement, attendance, progress and achievement
- Monitor and support the health, wellbeing and welfare of learners under your supervision, including in respect of safeguarding and any adherence to specified routines or requirement,
- Provide flexible support to the wider business as reasonably required, fulfilling occasional alternative duties as requested, so that expertise is deployed to meet business priorities at a level consistent with those outlined in this job description
OTHER
To contribute actively to team and departmental meetings as required
To promote the charity in a positive and professional manner, acting as an ambassador for the charity
To provide management information, professional intelligence and other support to organisational staff and the Charity CEO as required

Technical competency (qualifications and training)
- Qualification in supporting learners with additional needs in the care sector Care certificate/NVQ care etc E
Experience
- Experience of supporting adults with learning difficulties - E
- Experience working with learners who have issues with anxiety, confidence or who are overcoming disadvantages - D
- Experiencing of meeting the requirements of learners with robust Care Plans – E
- Experience planning preparing or adapting resources to meet learner need - E
- Safeguarding and/or First Aid training or willingness to train- D

Hours: 36.5 hours per week
Salary: £25,956 - £28,000 per annum
