About the Role
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a unique and rewarding role? A charming, highly specialized village primary school in Calder Vale is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 boy joining the school this September. The pupil has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a highly collaborative infant classroom environment. For the right individual, this ongoing position has a strong potential to convert into a permanent contracted school contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 behavioral and learning support to a Year 1 boy with ASD.
- Implement strategies outlined in the pupil’s EHCP to promote engagement and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate daily with the classroom teacher and a wider team of TAs to maintain a supportive learning environment.
- Assist the pupil during transitions and integrated classroom activities within the infant department.
What We Are Looking For
- Mandatory: Paid experience working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a child with ASD.
- Mandatory: Experience working within an infant, early years (EYFS), or Key Stage 1 setting.
- A strong, adaptive team player who thrives in a collaborative, high-support environment.
- Outstanding communication skills and a patient, calm, and nurturing approach.
About the School
This is a unique, small-scale educational setting with only two classes and approximately 40 pupils in total. The infant class caters to Pre-School, EYFS, Year 1, and Year 2. It is a highly specialized environment supporting 6 children with EHCPs for ASD, staffed by a class teacher and 6 other dedicated Teaching Assistants.
Pay: £105.00-£120.00 per day
