Within a small independent East London pub group, we are looking for Sous chefs to join us at the Leytonstone Tavern
We host a lot of exciting events too, both internally and externally, including weddings, birthdays, music festivals, F1 racing and food & drink events.
We are looking for Chefs who are keen to progress and able to take on responsibility within a growing team, whilst supporting the award winning executive chef and his team.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food preparation, and extensive kitchen experience. As a vital part of our pubs, the Sous Chef will assist in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training and mentoring team members
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specs and quality standards
- Monitor food production processes to ensure consistency, presentation, and taste
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste
- Support in developing new menu items and seasonal specials
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and operated safely
- Serve food to guests when required, providing excellent customer service
Requirements
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen environment
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking
- Knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP procedures
- Previous experience working in restaurants or hospitality settings is essential
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with effective team management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude towards service excellence
- Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Avg working week 45-48 hrs
