We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Registered Nurse and Independent Prescriber to join our clinical team and support the delivery of our private health assessments, diagnostic blood testing and IV wellness services.
Job Purpose
As our Independent Nurse Prescriber / Clinic Nurse, you will play a key role in the safe and effective delivery of our clinical services.
You will conduct comprehensive clinical consultations and health assessments, perform venepuncture, and assess clients for suitability for IV therapy. Within your professional competence and prescribing scope, you will independently prescribe and administer appropriate treatments in accordance with current professional standards, evidence-based practice and clinic governance frameworks.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and autonomous nurse prescriber who is confident working within a private clinical environment and committed to delivering safe, personalised and high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Independent Prescribing & Clinical Assessment
Conduct comprehensive consultations and independently prescribe appropriate treatments within your professional competence and prescribing scope. Review medical history, medications, allergies, contraindications and potential interactions before prescribing or administering treatment.
IV Therapy
Assess clients for suitability for IV therapy and, where clinically appropriate, prescribe, prepare and administer IV infusions in accordance with professional standards, evidence-based protocols and clinic policies.
Patient Safety & Monitoring
Monitor clients before, during and following IV therapy. Recognise and appropriately manage adverse reactions, IV complications and medical emergencies in accordance with clinic emergency protocols.
Diagnostics & Phlebotomy
Perform venepuncture and collect, label, document and prepare blood samples for transportation to the clinic’s partner diagnostic laboratory.
Health Assessments
Conduct comprehensive nurse-led health and wellness assessments using J Artistry Clinic protocols.
Clinical Observations
Accurately obtain, document and appropriately respond to vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and temperature, alongside relevant biometric measurements.
Clinical Results & Follow-Up
Review laboratory results within your professional competence, identify abnormal findings and clinical red flags, and ensure appropriate follow-up or escalation. Refer clients to their GP, urgent services or relevant specialists where appropriate.
Health Promotion
Provide evidence-based health education and appropriate lifestyle guidance while working within professional boundaries and individual competence.
Clinical Governance & Compliance
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols, prescribing policies, medicines management procedures, infection prevention measures and quality-improvement processes. Work in accordance with NMC professional standards, relevant medicines legislation, CQC requirements and UK GDPR/data-protection requirements.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Current, unrestricted NMC registration as an Adult Registered Nurse
- Registered Independent/Supplementary Nurse Prescriber qualification (V300 or equivalent) recorded with the NMC
- Demonstrable prescribing competence relevant to the treatments and services provided by the clinic
- Minimum 2–3 years post-registration clinical experience, ideally within acute care, ambulatory care, primary care, outpatient services or a private clinical setting
- Current and demonstrable competency in venepuncture
- Current and demonstrable competency in IV cannulation and infusion therapy
- Experience in clinical assessment, history taking and recognising clinical deterioration/red flags
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) training
- Appropriate training and competence in the recognition and management of anaphylaxis and medical emergencies
Desirable
- Previous experience working as an Independent Nurse Prescriber
- Experience within IV therapy or infusion services
- Experience in private healthcare or wellness services
- Experience reviewing diagnostic blood results
- Immediate Life Support (ILS) training
- Experience contributing to clinical governance, audits and CQC-regulated services
