We're a small, friendly locals' pub — popular for sport, quiz nights, and weekend DJs, with a lovely regular crowd. Our team is tight-knit (usually just 3–4 bar staff on a busy shift, and 2 on quieter shifts), so this isn't a purely supervisory role — you'll be behind the bar every shift alongside everyone else, not just overseeing. We're looking for someone who genuinely wants to be part of the team.
What you'll be doing
- Working on the bar every shift, pulling pints and serving guests alongside the team
- Taking the lead on shift — keeping things running smoothly, especially during busy periods (sport, quiz, DJ nights)
- Training new starters on service, our cocktail list, and safety procedures
- Keeping the bar clean, well-stocked, and compliant with licensing standards
- Handling customer feedback confidently and professionally
- Working closely with kitchen staff to keep service running smoothly
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a bar or pub, ideally with some supervisory experience
- A genuine team player — someone who'll fit right in and get on well with a small, close group
- Confident, hands-on approach — happy to lead and happy to graft
- Strong communication skills and a calm head under pressure
- Genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and looking after guests
- Cellar management experience a plus (kegs only, no casks)
Hours: Mix of evening work (closing time ranges from 10.30pm to Midnight midweek and 00.30am on a Fri & Sat) and Sat & Sun daytimes opening at midday. We like to rotate shifts so that everyone gets a Sunday off every so often, for example.
