Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Duty Manager to join the team at Colliery Smokehouse. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy restaurant environment and is passionate about delivering excellent customer service while leading and supporting a strong front-of-house team.
As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth day-to-day operation of the restaurant during service, ensuring high standards are maintained across customer experience, staff performance, and venue presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily restaurant operations during assigned shifts
- Lead and supervise front-of-house and bar staff
- Deliver and maintain exceptional customer service standards
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and service recovery professionally
- Support the team during busy service periods, including floor and bar operations
- Coordinate bookings, seating, and customer flow
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Ensure health & safety, hygiene, and licensing regulations are followed
- Train, motivate, and support team members
- Monitor staff performance and maintain a positive working environment
- Work closely with kitchen and management teams to ensure efficient service
- Assist with stock management and operational organisation when required
Requirements
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with bar service and cocktails preferred
- Reliable, organised, and proactive approach to work
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends
