About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and community-focused Wellbeing Coordinator to support the delivery of a Mental Health and Physical Activity Community Support Service across West Northamptonshire.
The service supports adults aged 18+ experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation, low confidence, and barriers to physical activity. Our aim is to improve wellbeing through inclusive community-based activities, peer support, volunteer buddy support, and social connection.
The Wellbeing Coordinator will support participants to improve their mental wellbeing, increase physical activity, build confidence, and strengthen community connections through a person-centred and recovery-focused approach.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support community wellbeing and physical activity sessions.
- Undertake initial wellbeing assessments and support planning.
- Support participants to identify and achieve personal wellbeing goals.
- Organise wellbeing walks, exercise groups, peer support sessions, and social activities.
- Provide wellbeing support and encouragement to participants.
- Build positive relationships with participants, volunteers, and community partners.
- Support referrals and signposting to local services.
- Work collaboratively with GP practices, social prescribers, community mental health services, and voluntary organisations.
- Maintain accurate records, attendance monitoring, and outcome data.
- Support volunteer buddies and peer mentors.
- Ensure activities are inclusive, accessible, and culturally sensitive.
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, GDPR, and health and safety procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working within health, wellbeing, social care, mental health, community development, or voluntary sector services.
- Understanding of mental health challenges and recovery-focused approaches.
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage people.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices.
Desirable
- Experience within social prescribing, community mental health, or wellbeing services.
- Experience delivering group activities or wellbeing programmes.
- Knowledge of outcome measures such as WEMWBS, PHQ-9, UCLA, or GPPAQ.
- Mental Health First Aid training.
- Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Community Development, Mental Health, or related field.
