North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) is seeking an exceptional Director of Financial Sustainability to help shape the Trust's long-term financial future while supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, Planning and Information and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead programmes that improve productivity, enhance value for money and support sustainable healthcare services across the organisation.
Working closely with clinical, operational and corporate leaders, you will champion a clinically led approach to financial sustainability, supporting the development and delivery of Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP), efficiency initiatives and transformational change programmes. You will work collaboratively with management accountants, clinical and operational leaders, and Executive Directors to develop innovative solutions to complex financial challenges, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, patient outcomes and service excellence.

As Director of Financial Sustainability, you will provide strategic leadership for the Trust's financial sustainability, productivity and transformation agenda. Working closely with the Trust Board, Executive Team, Senior Leadership Team, clinicians and operational leaders, you will support the delivery of Cost Improvement Programmes (CIPs), efficiency initiatives and financial recovery plans that support long-term organisational sustainability while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, quality and safety.
The role requires exceptional leadership, influencing and communication skills, with responsibility for engaging stakeholders at all levels, presenting complex information, managing challenging conversations and driving consensus on significant organisational change.
You will provide expert analysis, strategic insight and advice to support Board-level decision-making, oversee the development of productivity metrics and business cases, and ensure robust financial governance, performance monitoring and reporting arrangements are in place.
The postholder will hold accountability for the co-ordination of financial performance (Trust wide) associated with the development and implementation of the Trusts cost efficiency programme ensuring initiatives deliver measurable benefits, value for money and improved outcomes for patients and communities across North Cumbria.
