Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is vital in ensuring smooth food preparation and service, contributing to the overall guest experience. The successful candidate will work closely with chefs and kitchen staff, assisting with basic food preparation and cleaning duties. Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients under supervision.
- Support chefs with cooking tasks as required, ensuring timely delivery of dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned, stored correctly, and maintained in good condition.
- Help organise storage areas by rotating stock and ensuring ingredients are stored safely and hygienically.
- Support the team during busy service periods by efficiently managing cleaning duties to uphold health and safety standards.
- Follow all health and safety regulations diligently to maintain a safe working environment for all staff members.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation or working within a restaurant or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and familiarity with kitchen equipment is advantageous.
- Experience working in hotels or similar hospitality settings is a plus.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
