Salary Scale: Grade 9 Points 16 £32,347 FTE (pay award pending) Actual Salary £27,822.77 (pay award pending)

Job Purpose
To provide learning and care support for pupils with special educational needs (SEND). To establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations. The role will include the planning, preparation, delivery and ongoing assessment for identified pupils with SEND, liaising with the class teachers to deliver activities and supporting pupils with routines, transitions and behaviour management. This post will also require the teaching and assessment of daily agreed Key stage 2 lessons likelyto include Maths and other subjects as agreed with the Executive Headteacher and in conjunction with the KS2 class teacher. In addition, to lead the provision of agreed interventions to support identified pupils across KS1 and KS2.
Generic Responsibilities
Working under guidance to:
1. To primarily work with two SEND children that have significant SEND needs in the mornings.
2. To deliver and assess daily KS2 lessons liaising with the KS2 class teacher
3. To lead the provision of agreed interventions to support identified pupils across KS1 and KS2.
4. Plan and deliver learning activities under the direction and guidance of the class teachers.
5. Work closely with the class teachers to contribute to the management of pupil behaviour, maintain order and an appropriate working environment, including implementation of the school’s behaviour policies.
6. Report to the teachers on the behaviour of pupils during lessons and any issues arising.
7. Establish and promote productive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
8. Promote the inclusion of all pupils within the classroom and school.
9. Liaise closely with teachers and other relevant agencies regarding the work set for a child/class/group.
10. Assist with setting out learning materials.
11. Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other relevant professionals, in liaison with the teachers, to support the pupil’s learning and progress.
12. Effectively communicate the work set by the class teachers to the pupil and ensure that the pupil is aware of the teacher’s expectations.
13. Encourage the pupil to interact and work co-operatively with others and ensure that the pupil is engaged on the set task.
14. Respond knowledgably to any questions from the pupil about process and procedures.
15. Observe and report on pupil performance. Update relevant records at agreed time intervals.
16. Ensure the health, safety and welfare of pupils is maintained at all times.
17. Promote social and emotional development of pupils.
18. Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures.
19. Support the use of ICT in the classroom.
20. Provide English and Maths support to allow access to the curriculum.
21. Provide support for multi-lingual/bilingual pupils e.g. help pupils to access the curriculum and support the development of target language.
22. Assist with the development and implementation of IEPs.
23. Provide comfort and immediate care in case of minor accidents, including support with intimate care where a plan is in place in accordance to our policy. Report serious incidents to the appropriate person for action administering first-aid if qualified to do so.
24. Collect any completed work after the lesson and return it to the class teachers as appropriate.
25. Accompany teaching staff and pupils on educational visits.
26. Assist with supervision at playtimes and lunchtimes. Support pupils with eating (where necessary).
27. Supervise individuals during statutory tests.
28. Put up displays to enhance the classroom environment.
29. Contribute towards the overall ethos, aims and work of the school.
30. Be aware of, uphold and contribute towards the development of the school’s policies and targets in accordance with the school’s performance management and supervision arrangements.
31. Participate in appropriate school-based meetings and training activities.
32. Undertake any administrative duties relevant and appropriate to this post.
33. Take an active part in appraising their own work against agreed priorities and targets in accordance with the school’s performance management and supervision arrangements.
34. Maintain confidentiality at all times and observe Data Protection Guidelines.
